PPL Shipyard is a leading prime producer of drilling rigs in the world. The company has its roots from the 70s when it was a tug building and chartering company. In the late 70s, it went into rig building and built 21 rigs during the rig building boom of the early 80s. The rigs include jack ups, semi-submersibles and submersibles.

After the rig boom, the company refocused on shipbuilding, plant engineering, steel fabrication including container cranes and civilengineering.

In the 90s, the yard underwent a change in ownership but the business and management remain intact and seamless. The shipyard now operates under its current name of PPL Shipyard Pte Ltd

The shipyard is now focused on rig building and rig designs.
